As an instructional designer, I broadly support teaching and learning in the Learning Design and Technology Program at Purdue University.  This role is multifaceted and includes learning design, course development, and providing support to faculty and adjuncts to enhance and develop courses and learning communities relating to innovations and effective practice in instructional design.

CURRICULUM COORDINATOR, 04/2014-07/2016

ONLINE SUPPORT AND ADMINSTRATION: Serve as a liaison between Purdue University’s Learning Design and Technology (educational technology) Program and Deltak (a distance-learning service provider) in administrating an online program focusing on instructional design and educational technology.  Administer Deltak employees and Purdue Faculty members to ensure development of instructional materials (using Blackboard Learning Management System), program information and policies, student issues, and hiring of limited term lecturers meet both department and University rules and regulations.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Manage and create instructional materials for student orientation, faculty coordination, and faculty check-in sessions. Create, design, develop and maintain job aids and step-by-step procedures for polices to ensure duties are completed with absolute accuracy and are within University regulations

 

CONTRACT MANAGEMENT AND TERMINATIONS: Create and maintain both electronic and hard copy requests for appointments and terminations for the limited term lectures for the College of Education.  Ensure background checks are completed, University accounts and logins are created by the information technology department, and track and monitor all appointments.

 

Key Accomplishments:

 

+Decreased time and effort spent on creating and sending appointment forms/contracts to limited term lecturers from months to weeks by implementing a new mailing system, streamlined approval process, and improved communication between all individuals involved.

 

+Created new procedures between College of Education and Deltak that reduced the amount of e-mail communication and telephone correspondence to key faculty members.  Created and maintained both position manuals and program checklists to increase accuracy and efficiency of the program.

 

GRADUATE STUDIES SECRETARY, 05/2012-04/2014

INFORMATION COLLECTION AND RETENTION: Coordinated admission process for 500 (approx.) students per semester; establish, audit, maintain, and circulate all applicant and graduate student files for appropriate action.  Collected student and program data and maintained databases of graduate students and alumni.  Displayed excellent skills in data collection using Cognos (IMB Sofware for intelligence and financial information assembly).  Worked closely with faculty and deans to generate reports for accreditation and teacher licensure requirements for the state of Indiana. 

 

COMMUNICATION: Demonstrated extensive multi-tasking ability and excellent communication skills by facilitating and managing the student and faculty list-serves.  Collaborated with faculty, staff, and deans in regards to student issues and advising, data requests, University policies and procedures, recruitment, and assistance for all University programs.   

 

WEBSITE MANAGEMENT: Maintained different College of Education webpages.  Worked closely with Deltak to approved and finalize information for the Online Master’s Program microsite.   Sustained effective communication with staff and faculty to ensure learning objectives, policies, procedures and student resources are accurate and up-to-date.

+Received the 2013-2014 Outstanding Service Award for the College of Education and the 2014 Purdue University Rose Award.
